Tax File Number Basics
In order to complete your BAS or your income tax return, you’ll need to have your Tax File Number (TFN). This is what the ATO uses to identify you, so it’s important you keep it somewhere safe.
Once you’ve entered your TFN into your account settings on Airtax, we store it for you, so you’ll never have to find it or enter it again. It’s always there every time you come back to do a BAS or an income tax return with Airtax.
Can’t find your TFN?
We’ve put together a list of places where you may be able to find your TFN if you are not sure where to look:
- Check your Payment summary or your superannuation statement. Again, your TFN is always on there.
- Search your email inbox for ‘TFN’ or ‘Tax File Number’.
- Utilise the TFN search through myGov
- Have you taken a photo or a screenshot and saved it as an image on your phone?
If all else fails, call the ATO on 13 28 61.
