Doing your BAS with Airtax
Airtax is like an accountant but better! There are so many reasons why. Read on to find out how you could be saving money on your BAS and getting all the great features of Airtax.
1. Speak to an accountant
Want to know you’re doing the right thing when it comes to your tax? Now you can speak to a tax specialist to ask your tax questions. Our specialists will guide you through your BAS and make sure you have everything right.
Peace of mind for just $149
$149 to speak to a BAS specialist (which includes your BAS lodgement!)
To book a Business Assist call
- Click Add Business Assist on the BAS form or BAS summary.
- Book a time online for your call
- We spend around 30 mins on the phone with you*
- We finalise your BAS and lodge for you
Even though you pay when you submit your BAS to Airtax, don’t worry. We won’t lodge your BAS until you’ve spoken to us first.
You can add Business Assist from your BAS form
2. Compare your expenses
With Airtax you can see how your deductions stack up against people like you. See whether your claims are above or below average with Airtax’s comparison feature. Check against other people to see what they’re claiming more of and review your high claims to make sure you can prove the expense for your own peace of mind.
Just click into your BAS and you’ll see average claims pop up on the right of the page.
3. Airtax makes it easy to split your expenses between business and personal use
Airtax makes it easy to split your expenses between business and personal use.
Don’t forget that you can only claim expenses relating to business use, so it’s important to separate what relates to business when you do your BAS. Airtax is designed to make it easy to split your business from your personal expenses. Just enter the whole amount of the expense into the $ field, and then just enter the percentage you’ve used for business into the % field.
So, if you spent $500 on your car registration, and you use it mostly for business (90% of the time it’s for business), you would put in $500 and 90% into the registration field. Airtax works out what goes into your BAS.
4. Connect and sync your data
Sync to update your data
Once you’ve connected your accounts with Airtax, you can sync your data anytime from your BAS to make sure it’s always up to date. Just click on the Sync button at the top of your BAS next to the data you wish to update and Airtax will fetch your most recent data.
Not yet connected?
Airtax connects to your data in Uber, QuickBooks Self-Employed and more to minimise form filling and manual calculations.
Click on Connect accounts at the top of your BAS to get started.
5. What happens when we lodge
We lodge for you
When you submit your BAS with Airtax, we take care of the rest. Our lodgement team lodge directly with the ATO on your behalf.
This usually takes 1-3 days but can take a little longer if it’s close to the deadline (this process is faster through our priority Business Assist package).
All you need to do is wait for Airtax to email you once we’ve lodged. We’ll send you your payment slip along with the amount owed or owing.
How to pay the ATO
If you owe the ATO, you’ll find details about how to pay the ATO on the payment slip we send you. Complete these instructions to make your payment and you’re done until the next BAS.
If the ATO owes you
The ATO will pay you directly into your bank account.
6. Stay on top of your BAS
Access your dashboard from anywhere
Just login and you’ll go straight to your dashboard. You’ll see any due or overdue BAS in a list so you’ll know what needs doing right away.
7. Free BAS when you have $0 income
The best things in life are free
If you have a period in which you don’t receive any income, just enter ‘$0’ into the income field of your BAS, and you’ll skip payment so you can submit for free.
