Airtax ATO Prefill FAQs
The ATO prefill function failed to work. What should I do?
You should continue with your tax return tax in Airtax.
The ATO only prefills part of your income tax return. This can include:
- Salary and wages information
- Government payments
- Private health insurance data
- Financial institution data (e.g. interest and dividends)
- Some other amounts
You can read more about the ATO prefill functionality here.
You will still need to complete other parts of your tax return including:
- Deductions
- Rental property
- Capital gains
Why did the ATO prefill function not work?
This is usually because the ATO has not yet made your data available to Airtax.
The ATO generally makes your data available from mid-late July each tax year. You will not be able to prefill data before the ATO makes it available.
Please note, when the ATO will make your data available can vary between individuals. You may find your information is available before or after that timeframe.
How will I know when my data is prefilled from the ATO?
We suggest checking in to your Airtax tax return every couple of days to see if your data is available. However, you are also still able to complete your income tax return without the prefilled data if you wish to complete the return manually.
Can I submit my tax return without data being prefilled by the ATO?
Yes. As part of our quality checks one of our accountants will ask you to confirm via email that you would like us to proceed with lodgement without reference to your prefill data.
Still have questions?
We recognise these things can be complicated, so please feel free to reach out to our Australian based support team at help@airtax.com.au if you'd like to discuss this furthe.
